With the impending Brexit and the election of Donald Trump as US President, the ommon European security and defense policy gained momentum. In the middle of my parliamentary mandate of 2014-2019, I became spokesperson for defense policies for the European SPD.
The SPD supports the idea of a European army, the pooling and sharing of armaments capacities and a more restrictive arms export policy. I am very pleased that we have succeeded in developing a current strategy paper that also includes issues such as armaments conversion and dual-use issues.
